How the game works, what the numbers mean, and where to write when something is wrong.

Common questions

How do I throw the plane?

Press anywhere on the screen, drag backwards, and let go. The further back you drag, the harder the throw, and the angle of the drag is the angle of the launch. A very short drag, or one that points forwards, is read as a mis-touch and does not throw — so you can rest a thumb on the screen without losing a plane.

What is the multiplier that keeps appearing?

That is the skim. Fly within about four metres of the ground or a rooftop, fast, and it starts counting up — every coin you take while it is running is worth that many times its face value, to a maximum of five. Climb above roughly nine metres and it resets to nothing. Flying low is the whole economy of the game.

I ran out of coins and can't afford anything. Did I ruin the run?

No. There is no failure state in Paper Skyline and nothing is ever wasted. Throw again: the plane keeps the upgrades you have already folded in, and every flight earns more. A city takes as many throws as it takes.

Why did my coins disappear when I reached a new city?

That is the design, not a bug. Every city hands you a blank sheet — coins go back to zero and the upgrades come back out. What you keep is the distance you have already flown, the cities you have charted, and the artifacts you have found. A city is a build you commit to, which only works if you have to make the choice again.

Where are the artifacts hidden?

Each city hides its own: one high enough that you need altitude to reach it, one at middling height, and one that only a rooftop skim will take you past. They do not move, and they do not come back once found — they stay with you through every reset and fill in your atlas.

Can I play without an internet connection?

Yes, always. Paper Skyline makes no network requests at all. It plays exactly the same in aeroplane mode, which is a reasonable place to play a game about paper aeroplanes.

Does my progress sync between my phone and my tablet?

Not today. There is no account and no cloud save, so each device keeps its own progress. That is the same decision that means the game asks nothing of you and stores nothing about you — see the privacy policy.

How do I delete my data?

Delete the app. Everything the game has ever written lives in that app's own storage on your device, so removing it removes all of it. There is no copy on a server to ask us about.

It crashed, or something looks wrong.

The game sends no crash reports, so we will not know unless you tell us. Write to support@paperskyline.org with your device, your OS version, and what you were doing at the time — which city, and whether the plane was in the air.

Playing the game

support@paperskyline.org — bugs, something that looks wrong, a city that will not behave.

Privacy

privacy@paperskyline.org — questions about the policy. The short answer is usually “we don't have it”.

Anything else

hello@paperskyline.org — press, licensing, or telling us how far you got.

Paper Skyline has not been released yet, so the most common question right now is when. The honest answer is that it ships when it is finished, and the store badges on the front page will start working on the day it does.
